Polzeath at sunrise is a place of wonder for me. Especially in the colder months, before the footprints, there’s a stillness. Just the soft rhythm of the tide, morning light catching on wet sand and the sky warming to life. I remember this morning vividly from a couple of winters ago, it was a pretty special sunrise. I sat watching the colours shift from soft lavender to warm gold, reflecting onto the most perfect peeling waves, I felt such a deep soulful connection and protection over this special place. I wanted to replicate this moment on a canvas.
I used sand from Polzeath to create lifelike texture in this painting.
60x60cm deep canvas
Original oil painting
